The Heart of the Gospel (Colossians 1:15-20)
Saturday May 02, 2020
Saturday May 02, 2020
Last week we broke off half way through Paul's second sentence in the book...yup, he's the master of run-on sentences. But the transition is clear. Paul now pens, or incorporates, a song-a hymn-to celebrate the "Son of His love," the King into whose Kingdom we have been transferred after being rescued from the domain of darkness having been qualified to share in the inheritance with the saints.
Paul wants us to clearly know that the Heart of the Gospel is Jesus. We do receive the benefits of the Gospel, but ultimate it's not about us.

Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
How do we pray in uncertainty and crisis? COVID-19 has pushed our world into just that. We don't know how long this is going to last. We don't know the long term effects. Even though many people are recovering, what toll has this taken on their lungs and how susceptible will they be to future respiratory infections or complications? How will the economy rebound?
There are so many questions. How can we navigate the present crisis?
Psalm 77 is a prayer in time of crisis with many questions. The psalmist doesn't see anything in his present reality that provides comfort and direction. Where does he look for stability? He looks to the past - to what God HAS done for His people in history.

COVID-19. A global pandemic. Panic shopping. How should we as followers of Jesus navigate these times? There is, first of all, the need to calm our own hearts and minds; and then rest in the reality of God's sovereignty.
As a church we will be taking various measures during this time regarding our public gatherings, we have started live-streaming our services to YouTube, and we will continue to listen to our health and government officials as the situation progresses.

Gospel Podcasts
Our podcast started out simply as audio sermons from our Sunday services. Recently we've started two additional shows: Gospel Conversations and Gospel Reflections.
In Gospel Conversations, Pastor Doug talks with various missionaries that we support, and people in our congregation as they walk with Jesus.
In Gospel Reflections, Pastor Doug shares thoughts from his study of the Bible. Often this will include excerpts from commentators, church history, or something that speaks to where we are at today.
Our goal here is simple: Helping People Follow Jesus.
